Vicious accusation does not go far, Facts and realities stick.

by Pancha Seila

The ministry of Foreign Affairs of the kingdom of Thailand makes it sound like Thailand is a saint, having no landmines, knowing nothing about landmines. If it is so why, Thailand has Thailand Mine Action Center(TMAC). What's for? Could Thailand has a generous heart to institute and to establish TMAC with well equipped and well trained personnel for Somalia and other landmine hot spots of the world? I don’t think so! Thailand cannot even come to term with itself, with the government, no different than the "jockey" who can or cannot ride "the horse," which is Thailand, depending on the "will of the owner," who is the Thai Armed Forces and the person who exercises effective control on the Thai Armed Forces.

In this map of Thailand politics where is the place of Thai people? Could it be just instrument of politics for the "jockey," "the owner of the horse," or "the Armed Forces," and especially the person who exercises effective control over them?

This brand of constitutional democracy very much praised by H.E. Futrakul Virasakdi is good only for Thailand, but it does not deserve respect of Thailand's neighbours when the government of Thailand utilized these "constitutional democratic processes" as a delay tactics, as an easy way out off international commitments.

It is the same "constitutional democratic process" which allows Thailand to draw the "UNILATERAL MAP," no less vicious than Hitler and Mussolini who drew their unilateral maps first before the Nazis and the Fascists invaded countries in Europe during World War II. It must be recalled that Cambodia lost the Northwest provinces including the Temple of Preah Vihear under the French-Thai Treaty of 1941, during World War II.

The PMN2 land mines, as Thailand has claimed to be the kind of land mines produced in Russia, could be bought by Thailand the same as for the AK 47 carried by Thai Suranaree troops and Thai paratroopers, or they could be duplicated by Thailand.

Vicious accusation does not go far. Facts and realities stick.

Little hope is worth more than an all out armed confrontation

Let's hope that Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat make goods on his words.
Sadly, he is just a "jockey" like any other Prime Minister of Thailand. He has his hands tied, like any other Prime Minister of Thailand.

First he must secure the blessings from the owner of the "horse" and simultaneously he must know to mount the “horse”

Second, Thai Armed Forces which are completely independent from the government, any government of Thailand, is ready to cause trouble, and could be causing many troubles to Thailand Prime Minister, for instances drawing UNILATERAL MAP, no different from the Nazis and the Fascists during World War II and then claim sovereignty over Cambodia's land, intruding into territory under the sovereignty of Cambodia under the pretention of protecting three Thai nationals who crossed the boundary illegally on July 15, 2008, at any time when the owner of the "horse" lifts a finger.

If the area of the Cambodian territory which Thais claim to be Thai territory just recently after the inscription of the Temple of Preah Vihear into the World Heritage list on July 7, 2008, what they have been doing almost half of the century past? They must have been sleeping for almost half of a century, since 1962 to wake up and sent troops into Cambodia on July 15, 2008.
When Thailand builds up it armed forces including massing thousands of paratroopers and the Suranaree elements, tanks, heavy weapons and artillery, fighter-jets to intimidate little Cambodia, Thailand Prime Minister cannot say anything, except to follow the order of the Thai armed forces.

There is little hope when Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat "insisted that Thailand, as a good neighbour, want to find a peaceful solution to the conflict with Cambodia" for all the reasons here-above explained.

But little hope is worth more than an all out armed confrontation. For all its cost of two lives and two injured soldiers, the incident of Wednesday October 15 told the Thais that Cambodians are capable to defend their territorial integrity and sovereignty.
