Excellency,
I
would like to acknowledge your letter dated 28 August 2013.
Responding
to your letter, I have the honor to remind you that on 3 August 2013, in order
to solve problems after the General Election of the fifth mandate of the National
Assembly, the meeting among the NEC and representatives of CPP and CNRP agreed
in principle to set up an Adhoc Committee with participation of NEC and the two
parties and with national and international organizations as observers. This Ad
hoc Committee would immediately convene the meeting to discuss the mandate and
tasks of this established body.
On
the same day, by implementing the result of this meeting, NEC invited the
representatives of the two parties to resume the discussion on the mandate and
tasks of this ad hoc Committee. The CPP sent representatives with every right
to decision making to participate in the said meeting. Regrettably, CNRP
abruptly reversed its earlier decision by not sending representatives to this very
meeting.
On 9
August 2013 NEC once again issued an appeal to invite representatives of the CPP
and CNRP for another meeting in order to set up a special committee to review
the reports of alleged irregularities of the fifth mandate of the National
Assembly election. The CPP, in responding to this appeal, sent four
representatives to the meeting, however the meeting could not be conducted due
to CNRP failed to send its representatives.
In
this situation, NEC continued implementing its agenda in which complaints were
resolved in accordance with electoral laws and processes. Thus far,
Constitutional Council has been resolving the complaints lodged by the CNRP by strictly
adhering to the Constitution and laws in transparent and fair manner.
Despite
the above mentioned, CPP continues to maintain good will for further dialogue
to solve the remaining issues based on the result of the election and the
spirit of national reconciliation which is the best approach to ensure the
harmony of our citizens.
