Post-2015 vision to be tabled at Asean Summit

The ASEAN post-2015 vision, which will outline the future direction and roadmap in maintaining the grouping's stable development and promoting its centrality in the regional and global issues, is expected to be introduced in the upcoming 23rd Asean Summit in Brunei Darussalam this week, The Brunei Times reported, quoting Indonesia's Foreign Minster Marty Natalegawa as saying.
Speaking to The Brunei Times on the sidelines of the 21st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in the resort area of Nusa Dua, Marty Natalegawa said, “We are now even beginning to think about having the post-2015 ASEAN community vision, which will be launched at the summit in Brunei.”
Among other issues that have been highlighted for the benefit of the Asean are strengthening the internal connectivity, especially the principle of consensus and enhancing the central role of the grouping in the regional architecture, to continue its work on a people-centred community for the well-being and livelihood of Asean peoples such as public health, food security and disaster management and to maintain Asean as a peaceful and stable region to ensure our continued and sustained economic growth.
He said that Asean has made tremendous progress as the bloc is now entering the final lap towards the one ASEAN Community in 2015. Under the Brunei Chairmanship, a lot of difficult issues have been addressed, including in the political and security matters such as the sea row dispute.
