The 2012 Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM)

From 29 February to 2nd March 2012, at the Apsara Authority Complex, Siem Reap Angkor, the 2012 APQN Conference and AGM is held with participation of about 300 national and international speakers, education experts, education assurance experts and researchers representing 130 education quality assurance institutions and agencies from 32 countries from all over the world, of whom there are 47 Cambodian universities’ managements.

The 2012 Conference and Meeting is jointly organized by the Accreditation Committee of Cambodia (ACC) and the APQN with cooperation from the Cambodia’s Higher Education Association (CHEA) under the theme: “External Quality Assurance in the Asia-Pacific: What has changed over a decade?”.
The objectives of the Conference and Meeting are:
  • To reflect on expectations and achievements of quality assurance in higher education;
  • To highlight current challenges and issues of quality assurance in higher education;
  • To share good practices in quality assurance of institutions and quality agencies;
  • To enhance regional cooperation amongst quality assurance agencies; and
  • To share a regional vision on quality in higher education.

It is to note that in September 2005 Cambodia hosted a training workshop of education quality assurance of the APQN with participation of many quality assurance officers from more than 10 countries in the region. In 2006, Cambodia was officially admitted as a full member of the APQN. After several years of active participation in APQN’s activities and through a highly competitive bidding amongst many countries in the region, Cambodia has been entrusted and supported by the APQN to host the 2012 APQN and AGM this year. This is another great honor for Cambodia to show to the world that not only can Cambodia actively participate in major international forums, but also host and chair such international events. Furthermore, the hosting of the Conference and Meeting in Siem Reap Angkor is to provide international participants the opportunity to explore the history, traditions and rich culture of Cambodia once known as “Angkor Empire”.
