Cambodia organized a National Seminar on ASEAN Awareness
ahead of the upcoming 20th ASEAN Summit


Phnom Penh, Thursday, 15 March 2012

Some 3,500 university students and officials from various key Ministries of Cambodia took part in a National Seminar on ASEAN Awareness on Thursday, 15 March 2012, at the Capital’s Diamond Island Theater.  
The Seminar was presided over by H.E. Mr. HOR Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who represents Cambodia for the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council; H.E. Dr. Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister and Minister of Commerce, who represents the country for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Council; and H.E. Mr. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, who represents the country for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council.
The National Seminar demonstrates Cambodia’s strong commitment to work in chorus with all ASEAN Member-States to enhance ASEAN integration and the ASEAN Community Building by 2015, in order to further build a strong sense of oneness and shared vision of ASEAN as a cohesive family.     
At the National Seminar, the ASEAN Secretariat has also helped boosting up the spirit and promoting awareness of ASEAN by providing 3,500 ASEAN T-shirts, hand-flags, and publications to all participants. The ASEAN Secretariat also provided sets of books on ASEAN to university libraries in Cambodia.
