ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting
12 September, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 12 September 2012. The Meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. SOEUNG Rathchavy, Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The Meeting discussed many important issues. Those include ASEAN Community Building and the implementation of ASEAN Charter, follow-up to the 45th AMM/PMC/19th ARFI 2nd EAS FMM, the preparations for the Joint Preparatory Meeting (JPM), the Informal ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (IAMM) and related Meetings in New York, and most importantly the preparations for the upcoming 21stASEAN Summit and Related Summits as well as ASEAN Global Dialogue in November 2012.
The ASEAN Member States expressed their strong support to the adoption of the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration and deliberated on the preparations for the official launching of ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (AIPR) at the upcoming 21st ASEAN Summit in November 2012.
On external relations, ASEAN Senior Officials discussed on the preparations for the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit in December 2012 and how to further strengthen the EAS cooperation.
